This is the fourth book in the series and it is a very satisfying read. Unlike the others in the series, where I made the mistake of thinking I could read this story in increments before going to sleep, I started this book when I got up and finished it before it was time to go to bed. All of the earlier books in this series engaged me and pulled me along way past the time I should have put it down and gone to sleep.I would, however, gladly sacrifice more nights or days should the author write more books in the series. (I will admit, Hemry is one of my favorite authors and I wish he would return to tell a series of stories about Paul's military career on Mars and thereafter, much as Hemry's Jack Campbell did with the follow-ons after the Lost Fleet series. If you agree, let him know!)
The characters, the action, and the science is believable and you really do care about what happens. Unlike so many SiFi space operas where we rush from one technical whiz-bang to the unbelievable next, these stories development nicely along a predictable path without us needing to ignore technical details that are obviously not possible in our current world (like so many TV "cop" shows where their pistols seem to have nearly infinite-sized ammo clips.)
I particularly like his form of third person writing where we get insights into our protagonist's thoughts, but not the other characters. The dialogs are very realistic as are the main characters in the story. This is a very worthy addition to your collection and a great read.

A very good ending to a Series that I hope has not really ended. I would like to read more about Paul, and Jen Sinclair. I am sure a lot of other people would to.
The storyline for this book made this the best book of the series and had a chance to make it a truly superior book. But the development of the storyline made it too easy to guess the ending. There wasn't a lot of mystery as to how this would end (I don't want to state any spoilers). Hemry (or Campbell) develops excellent characters but can't seem to really get over the top with his storyline development, with the exception of a couple of books in the Lost Fleet series.
Military suspense from the master of Military Science Fiction. That pretty much sums up all of these Paul Sinclair novels. Suspenseful and ultra-realistic action and suspense throughout the entire Paul Sinclair series. I highly recommend them. As a former US Navy submarine sailor (about the closest to these ships that we have now that you can get...) I highly recommend ANYTHING from John Hemry/Jack Campbell
I really love Jack Campbell's writings. His books are well done. The stories are excellent. I hope he will do more JAG in Space with Paul Sinclair.
This, book four of Paul Sinclair's journey through young-officer-hood in the US Space Navy, with collateral duty as ship's legal officer, does not disappoint. John has again found a facet in the military justice system to examine, and thrown in a wrinkle not present in the first three.
This reads like a great whodunit, cast in a highly recognizable US military environment.
Great job, John! Thanks for the fascinating read!

Accurate military action , espionage, court room drama that WASN'T slog to read! Go ahead, spend your money and your time.... buy this book and enjoy!
So admired amongst humans yet so lacking in real life, with a true-to-life ending that illustrates the adage that no good deed goes unpunished. Why do humans seemingly value honor, integrity, and steadfast loyalty to "those who deserve it" when such traits are methodically discouraged and even punished in real life? It's a mystery that deserves closer examination than it receives. Until the day we each decide that these traits should be given more than lip service, we have authors such as Henry to remind us of how it should be done.
